The Monads is a kinetic/sound installation consisting of leslie speakers in which the wind going through the leaves of the trees formed the starting point. A self-controlled system drives the sound and motors whereby various patterns of behavior derive through time. Therefore what you hear and see doesn’t have a beginning and end. The rotating speakers create a mix of direct and re ective sound causing the source to appear from close by as from far away.

The title derives from Leibnitz’ (1646 – 1716) philosophy where a Monad is an indivisible and hence ultimately simple entity, such as an atom or a person.
