Airborne Landscapes

Site specific audiovisual installation which investigates the dynamics of air particles. The visitor travels through different heights of theĀ  atmosphere in a physical virtual reality, created in a game engine.

The journey takes us from air that is stored in the soil deep down beneath our feet up to the height where all air disappears and becomes a vacuum, traveling through the layer that protects our earth.

The atmosphere is a dynamic ecosystem, in which elements such as air pressure and temperature are in constant motion. They change substance and behavior, through interaction with other life forms such as plants and man-made elements.

The work is inspired by the expertise of scientists Bram Maasakkers, Nils van Rooijen and Linda Carton.

The installation was made for the Goffertpark in Nijmegen during Schemerlicht festival 2022
